As a designer, I would go through phases in which I get fixated on particular design elements. Right now, I am hooked on chain. Especially, I am in love with the lush and cool texture of oxidized and polished Sterling silver chain. I just can’t stop buying new chains, cutting them up, oxidizing and polishing them! As a result, many necklaces and bracelets have been born. Time is just right too, as the summer season means lots of exposed necks and wrists that need good accessorizing!
Below are some of the new designs I have produced so far. They will go on sale in my Etsy shop early July. Yep — I plan to offer a quick sale of new designs. Not only do I miss the mad rush I get from making sales, but also these will make such perfect accessories to summer outings that it will be a shame to let this sunny season pass them by. :-)
{This is my first attempt at a front-closure style necklace. Particular care was taken to ensure the center drop part and the toggle together have a smooth, integrated look. The rough-cut aquamarine drop has a beautifully organic look.}
{The challenge was to find just the right silver chain that complements the oversized aquamarine rondelles. I found the right chain and doubled it up!}
{A beautiful strand of opal rondelles in blue/green shades are punctuated with Thai silver beads. The opal strand is accompanied by a sterling silver chain.}
{Pieces of fine silver chain link together flashy labradorite oval beads. A necklace with a classic composition that has an especially graceful drape.}
{Prehnite marquise beads glowing in shades of pale green and yellow are arranged in a leafy shape, hanging from a triple-strand silver necklace composed of oxidized fine silver chains.}
{I am in love with the white coral branch. Its color and polish are nicely matched by the glowing blue chalcedony briolette. The disc charm with a sun-ray-like pattern sets the stage nicely.}
{Blue chalcedony makes another good match with pink coral. Coupled with the Thai silver flower charm, the necklace has an adorable look.}

I love the oxidized silver look too. How do you oxidize it?

Hi Joni — Eni Oken has a wonderful article written up about oxidization process. She explains it better than I ever could. It’s found here: http://www.enijewelry.com/jewelry/oxidize.html

Ooooooh Rae! I love that labradorite necklace! You know I have a weakness for this stone! I wear the large labradorite briolette and faceted coin earrings all the time and I get lots of compliments on them. The flashiness always attracts them like birds to a shiny object! I hope that I’ll be lucky enough to purchase this necklace when you post it.
